Kruger National Park – Once You Visit the Park You Will Ever Come Back
This tour shows you the distinctiveness of the flora and fauna of the world famous Kruger National Park in South Africa. Watch with luck the BIG FIVE - elephant, leopard, lion, white rhino and buffalo in the wilderness of the Lowveld region.
Your guide knows the park and the behaviour of the animals, so you can relax and enjoy the sightings of antelopes and carnivores.
The Highlights – 1 Day Kruger National Park
Morning Drive
The first hours of the morning are the best for game watching with a good chance of seeing big cats hunting. On our way to Skukuza we visit the Shitihava and Transport Dams. If possible we drive up the dirt road to the top of the granite rock Mathekenyane. From here one has a wonderful view over the vast bushland (get out of the car at your own risk).
Should we not see big cats, we ought to spot a lot of other wild animals until breakfast time - between 8:00 and 9:00 o’clock at a picnic place close to the Sabie River.
Lunch at Lower Sabie Camp
After swallowing the last drop of coffee we go back to the exciting wildlife. We explore the "Magic Triangle“, an area with a high density of game. From the bridge over the Sabie River we will see hippos and crocodiles in the water. On the banks there are often herons, marabou and saddlebilled storks. After a stop at Orpen dam we drive over the Lebombo Mountains to the Nkumbe lookout. From here you will have one of the nicest views in the park.
Lunchtime is at Lower Sabie Camp. The newly built camp offers fantastic comforts. From the deck of the restaurant you have a wonderful view over the river. A short walk brings you to the bungalow village where you can relax under big indigenous trees. If you are lucky you could see elephants or buffalo's coming to the river to cool off.
Along the River Sabie
The last stage of our tour takes us nearly 50 km along the Sabie River - a good place and opportunity to see elephants playing in the water - however, not a guarantee.
You are in a game park, not in the zoo. It means - to be at the right spot at the right time. For this you need good luck and we trust that you will be blessed with plenty of it.
Between 5 and 6 p.m. we will be leaving the park to drive back to the lodge.
Notes
South African National Parks (SANParks) has introduced a new conservation fee for all visitors. From Monday June 2, 2003, all visitors will have to pay this daily rate.
Please visit www.krugerpark.com for more information.
Our departure time depends on the opening times of the gates to the park (5:30 am from October to March, 6:00 am from April to September).
Normally we start from the lodge 30 minute before opening time, so we can enter the park as early as possible and be in the land of the „Big Five“.
